NamePros unleashes New Domain Auction System
Oct 26th
Its finally here. After what I assume must have been a lot of work for RJ & the rest of the auction team, an entirely new live auction system has been introduced at NamePros.
How it works: List your domain, domain goes into a ‘Silent Auction’ where people can prebid on it. Once 50% of reserve is met via prebids the domain goes into Live Auction. Hopefully this will ensure that only quality names that people are willing to bid on get into the Live Auction, which are to be held twice a month.

Also, I’ve been accepted by the good folks at Bido as an industry expert. I’m honoured. I get to have my say on their domains before the auction. I find Bido quite intriguing, do pay them a visit, their one domain auctioned per day is certainly a unique format in these days of million domain listing marketplaces.

It takes a LOT to get domainers excited about anything. We’re a jaded lot, have been there and done that. Everybody plugs their new services and offers on community sites (NP/DNF) and we see the underbelly of every successful and not so successful online venture.
So what does one do to make the domaining community take notice? Ask Rick Latona. He’s one smart cookie. He bought a theme change at NamePros, one of the top two domain communities online. It went from a sober blue and white to a stark orange and red.

The Great American Snowe Job
Mar 6th
A new bill currently seeking passage in the US senate is trying to surreptitiously change the face of the domain industry and extend American ‘ownership’ on the web. You and me stand to lose any domain we own, developed, undeveloped, tm-ed, non-tm-ed, geo and generic… I kid you not.
Be prepared to protect or lose your domain names, generics or any others, specially if they’re .com or .net as those are controlled by Verisign. The bill goes way beyond its brief… if it becomes law, a lot of small business will be hurt and badly.
As I understand it… if you own More >
