5 Suggestions to Improve Bido
Oct 15th
This post is in response to Sahar’s call for feedback on Bido:
I’m here to ask from you, Bido member, or a Bido observer, to tell us what you like about Bido, what you don’t like, and anything else you have in mind.
1. Remove the absolute bid system
It adds nothing to the auctions, just stops a lot of people from bidding a max they would be happy to pay for it and forget about it. We’re all overworked, tracking auctions isn’t always possible. I wanted a domain I would have happily paid $50 for, but 14 minutes before the end of the auction More >
Good Enough Tech
Sep 15th
Read a really interesting article in Wired regarding dumbed down low cost tech products which are quickly overshadowing their quality led siblings in terms of sales figures.
Actually the Chinese figured this out a couple of decades ago, why they are pretty much at the forefront of anything that requires mass manufacturing. This has also been borne out by the various ‘honey pot’ schemes around the web. Single sales page, huge commissions, mostly useless or repackaged products (including stuff generally available via Open Source or Public Domain).
While one can’t argue with the financial aspect of this nor ignore the preponderance of such More >
Major changes to Bido
Aug 13th
Just got an email today from Bido outlining major changes they’re making to the auction platform. It sure looks like that they have thought this out in totality and it certainly looks like it could be a good profit center.
Here is the entire email followed by my comments:
We’ve just released a few new changes at Bido and we’re really excited to let you know about what’s new. In addition to many minor enhancements throughout the site, these are the big changes that you’ll notice, and we hope you enjoy:

One minute domain auctions
Another interesting domain auction site to hit the domaining scene is DNKO.com – its offering is a little different than most other auction sites, even though the live chat feature also exists there.
Signup is free, as is submission of lots, you only pay a 5% transaction fee on sold domains. While their bulk submission system is quite buggy, you can submit single domains quite easily, whois is updated on the fly.
Submitted domains have to be verified by admin email on record and then slotted by the staff for the upcoming auctions based on submission priority. Not the More >
Average Joe on Domains
May 6th
Saw an interesting video on YouTube featuring Howard Neu (thx Pred) asking average everyday people about domains.
Take a look:

Feb 28th
I started this blog to talk about anything and everything under the sun, but due to the fact that my interest at the time was mostly domaining, its become a one subject blog and not something I’m happy with.
Specially since there are a lot of people who blog about domains and do it a lot better: http://www.mwzd.com/whos-who/domainers-blogs/
So I’ve decided to start by sharing my take on the other various fields and interests I have, as also go in for a design change soon. Opinions and suggestions are very welcome.
