Sedo’s Q2 Sales Figures and the story they tell!
Sedo’s Q2 2010 Sales Figures are a factual take on the state of extensions in terms of sales. One of the most important metrics for domain name investors.
Not many surprises in the gTLD scene, sales are almost directly proportional to the % of registrations.
| gTLD | % Sales | % Registrations | Saleability Index |
| .COM | 74% | 75.85% | 0.97 |
| .NET | 12% | 11.29% | 1.06 |
| .ORG | 7% | 7.21% | 0.97 |
| .INFO | 5% | 5.65% | 0.88 |
| .BIZ | 2% | 1.77% | 1.13 |
Ironic that .biz has the highest index considering how many domain investors consider it inferior to the other 4 top gTLDs.
The ccTLD sales were quite a revelation though, sales figures tell a whole new story, specially when considered in conjunction with the % of registrations.
| ccTLD | % Sales | % Registrations | Saleability Index |
| .DE | 49% | 37.2% | 1.31 |
| .UK | 15% | 23.46% | 0.64 |
| .EU | 15% | 8.73% | 1.71 |
| .NL | 3% | 10.68% | 0.28 |
| .FR | 3% | 4.76% | 0.63 |
| .US | 3% | 4.41% | 0.68 |
| .CH | 3% | 3.86% | 0.77 |
| .ES | 3% | 3.27% | 0.91 |
| .AT | 3% | 2.55% | 1.18 |
| .IN | 2% | 1.08% | 1.85 |
The major surprise in this for me is .eu – never expected the index to be so high, might be an aberration, will try and analyze older reports to check if this is a trend or just a result of some specific auction events.
Another major shock is the absence of .TV, .CA, .COM.AU and .ME from these figures entirely. Maybe they just were not in the top 10 ccTLDs.
.IN is the big story here, at 1.85 the saleability index is literally the highest among all 15 extensions at SEDO. And it is now one of the top 10 ccTLDs in terms of sales. Am pretty pleased that my forecast in 2007 regarding this extension are turning out to be 100% correct. Expect a lot more action from this extension, the only one on that list which does not have any nexus requirements at all and is the youngest in terms of release dates too.

Its really an interesting analysis. .de tops the gtlds all time. With gaining interest & higher index shows the growth of .in extension. I m happy to see such an information as am invested a lot in .in
